New Design For Smedian CTA Embeds

A more organized approach to help increase conversions.

SMedian is now home to ~270 of Medium’s top and upcoming publications along with 1900 of its writers. With that, SMedian’s embeds are showing up more often than when I first introduced them a couple months ago, so I’d like their design to better compliment the work of the writers and publications who use them.

For the sake of timelessness, the new designs below are simply images of the actual embeds. Under each image, you can click the link to see the embed in action.

Writer Call to Action (CTA)

The writer’s call to action embed is simply cleaner than before. It includes the writer’s chosen title, name, bio, call to action, and social links.

With Signup Form

If the writer would like to use his/her embed to capture emails from their readers, they can include a signup form in their CTA. Doing this will highlight the form submission button so that the reader is drawn to it more than the “Request to Contribute” button. All aspects of the form are customizable.

Fully Customizable

You can choose the button’s color and text, the image, title, message, and input placeholder. Once the reader submits their email, the form is replaced with a thank you message that you can fully customize:

You can choose the title, the message, and the image. You can even add a link for the reader to continue to; perhaps send them to your publication or give them a reward (free e-book, etc.) for signing up.

How to Get

Log into SMedian and go to your profile to set up your embed.

Publication Call to Action (CTA)

The publication call to action embed now shows more stats about the publication along with its main topic.

Without Signup Form

Now, readers can see that the publication, Marketing & Growth Hacking in this case, focuses on Growth Hacking, has received 416 requests to contribute from writers, has 46,845 followers, and is growing by ~86 followers per day.

With Signup Form

If the publication would like to use their embed to capture emails from their readers, they can include a signup form in their CTA. All aspects of the form are customizable. Once the reader submits their email, you can follow up with another call to action if you wish to.
